MIM #127 Double Backgrounds

Today's card is for the MIM challenge. I stamped two different images in Hawaiian shores ink on white cardstock. The first image was three off set lines from Mod Squad set. The second image was the curved medallion looking image from background basics retro set. Used lovely layers set and dies to make the flower. Sentiment from In Bloom. Added silver sequins to add some sparkle. To me the background reminds me of rain behind a fun little old fashioned window. So the sparkles are like little rain drops. The color combo is from summer card camp 2 additional colors from wrap it up day. It is the combo in upper right hand corner.

July 2013 Blog Hop challenge #3

This is using the first color challenge. I incorporated black as well to really make the paper pop. I die cut pure poppy, raspberry fizz and berry sorbet with the new rainbow dies. Love those dies. I colored sheer Maya road blossoms with matching copic markers and attached with dimensional dot with a silver embellished brad. Added pops of simply chartreuse with the leaves and sentiment. Finished with sprinkling of red sequins. Made a similar card for summer card camp 2 and wanted to try new colors.

July 2013 Papertrey Blog Hop Challenge #2

This is using the second set of colors. Melon berry, new leaf, summer sunrise and I substituted SU so saffron for harvest gold. I love piecing different colored papers together to add small details. I did this with the new leaf tabs on sentiment and behind ribbon by using a circle punch and then cutting that in half then quarters. I think it adds fun detail. I stamped the flowers using the rock n roll method with melon berry and summer sunrise. Finishing it with glossy accents for some shine and dimension. Added summer sunrise bow.

July 2013 Papertrey Blog Hop challenge card #1

Using the 5th color combo. SU Pumpkin Pie for Orange Zest, Summer sunrise, lemon tart, SU Certainly Celery for Limeade Ice and New leaf. I wanted to break out my new dies and make something bright, fresh and clean. This is what I came up with.

Summer card camp 2: out of our comfort zone

Today we had to make a card using a style we are not comfortable with or rarely use. Shabby chic is something I try to recreate but never can. Whimsical, frilly and very embellished cards are just not my style. So here is my creation. I used a watercoloring dry embossing technique for the background. Using the colors for this week I used several brown shades and dark purple to color in the birds. I blended with mineral oil. As you can tell I need to practice. Ha ha.

Summer card camp 2: week 3 day 3, colored die cuts

Today I used plastic clear die cut flowers from PTI and colored them with Copic markers. To get a layered look I used two different purple copic markers and put a clear flower in between to break up the colors a bit. I heat set the coloring on the flowers. I used the rainbow die from PTI and cut it in several colors to achieve the lines that extend from the flower. Stamped the sentiment tone on tone and popped up with dots. The leaves are stamped with SU cool Caribbean on white cardstock and tucked behind the flower. I finished it with a silver decorative brad.

Summer card camp 2: partial cover plate die cuts

I cut a portion of the vertical chevron plate by PTI. Cut it in half and then used full chevron stripes to fill in die cut.

Summer card camp 2: week 3 day 2, embossed die cuts

So today we learned about different ways to enhance die cuts. I chose the embossed die cuts technique. I have wanted to make chocolate bunnies ever since I received this die cut. I cut out 4 bunnies, then used scalloped circle to create teeth marks. I used copper embossing powder first then layered with chocolate scented and colored powder. For the tails I mixed chocolate, light brown and kaleidoscope powders. Wanted to make it a birthday card so I pieced together a sentiment using PTI Piece of Cake stamp set. I also showed a detailed picture of the embossing. It is really glossy and looks like chocolate in real life.Yummy!

Summer card camp 2: week 3 day 1, color combo and sketch. MIM #126 3D Die Cut Sentiments

Today I used the 3rd sketch from SCC2 and the color combo. I also incorporated this week's Make it Monday from Nichole Heady. I do not have any sentiment dies so I used the XOXO border dies from PTI and used a slightly darker copic marker to make the shadow lines.

Summer card camp 2: paper piecing

Used paper piecing on the center of the flowers. Really love this color combo.

Summer card camp 2: tri fold card

This is a tri fold card. I also used the first Color combo challenge.

Summer card camp 2 : subway art , color challenge

This card used the sentiment piecing technique to give the card a subway art look. I used a shimmery silver cardstock for the base card. The main white paper is PTI white linen. I used SU Tangerine tango, PTI Raspberry Fizz and PTI Hawaiian Shores inks to stamp random sayings and designs. I made sure that my left and right margins lined up on the face of the card. I then popped the white card face up with pop up dots, used blue washi tape to make stripes on the sides of the silver cardstock. Added sparkly stickles to some of the hearts and dots. Was a fun card to make.

Summer card camp 2: holiday stamps used for non holiday card challenge

This is card #2 for the holiday stamp challenge. This time I used Spooky Sweets set from PTI. Using the triangle eyes of a jack o lantern set I made the background alternating direction and colors. I then used PTI set Sending Love for the sentiment. Used paper piercing and paper strips to finish.

Pepper the seat stealer

Pepper LOVES to cuddle with us on the couch. But when you get up say good bye to your spot...and the pillows....and the blanket. She burrows under them and steals your seat. She is peeking out from her sleeping spot on the couch. Or I should say my husband's former favorite spot. How quickly pets get the run of the house.

Summer card camp 2: week 2 day 4

It is Christmas in July! Today our homework for summer card camp was to use holiday stamps for a non holiday reason. I chose to make a birthday card with PTI Christmas set called Take a Bough, I love the hanging star and thought I could use that as  birthday make a wish star.

Summer card camp 2 : shaker card

Today in camp we learned so many fun techniques. But today I really wanted to try the shaker card. It was fun to make once I found all my supplies, there was some creative substitutions. In the video the instructor used white foam. I raided the craft drawer and found bright neon green sparkle foam and black sparkle foam. They were thin but only had enough of each color for one circle so I glued the sparkle sides together and colored the green edges that were visible in black ink. Ha ha, oh well it worked. Used PTI Wise Owl stamp set. It was fun will definitely make more once I get more supplies.

Using the Color combo I found coordinating patterned paper to finish the card. Used PTI Butterfly kisses and little lady stamp sets. I don't take great photos, I think it looks better in real life.

Storm blues

Pepper hiding in her bed from the storm.I love the monsoons in July. This is Pepper's first July and first Monsoon. At least she finds comfort among her stuffed friends.

Summer card camp 2: week 2 day 1 , circle card & MIM #125 Defined Watercolors card

Today is day one of week 2 of card camp. Today I chose the circle card tutorial and am combining it with the Papertrey Ink Make it Monday technique of defined watercolors. Using the color combo and sketch from card camp. I used stampin up Buckaroo Blue, PTI dark chocolate, PTI simply chartreuse and PTI ripe avocado ink. The stamp image is PTI spiral bouquet. To make the defined watercolor image I borrowed my daughter's watercolor paints and painted on the stamp, before stamping I spritzed with a little water to smudge it a little more. Then I took the coordinating image and stamped just the edges to define the water color image. I love how it turned out.

Summer card camp 2 : additional color combo

Used  PTI melon berry, lemon tart and sky blue. I used silver stickles as my fourth color in the combo. This is using the first color combo on right side from the challenge page for day 5. I cut out and embossed an acetate window for the sun circle area. This is PTI Hello Sunshine stamp set.

Summer card camp 2 : additional color combo

Today I used stampin up inks in colors of cool Caribbean, only orange, perfect plum and vintage violet. I used PTI garden of life stamp set. I stamped the flowers on PTI linen paper, using the two step stamping images. I then used an eraser to smudge the edges of the orange flowers to fill in the negative white spaces. Cut banners and stamped sentiment as well as adding silver ribbon and cool blue gemstones. This was using the third additional color combo listed from day 5 of camp.

Summer card camp 2 : color challenge

Used the second color combo. Ivory, peach, summer yellow, brown and black. Love the birds from Little Bitty Birds Additions from Papertrey Ink. I started with ivory card stock and sponged Groovy Guava from Stampin up in center then surrounded that with Summer sunrise from Paperyey Ink. Finishing with Dark chocolate (PTI) on the bottom.

Day 5 for Summer Card Camp 2 is to use the additional color combos. I picked the first one. Has a greyish blue, dark navy, medium purple, red and light aqua blue. I used the Beautiful Blooms set from Papertrey Ink. I made pencils grid lines on white paper and inked over it. Then erased lines in negative white space. Added a silver leaf vellum paper over and stamped my sentiment. Added silver cord.

Summer Card Camp 2 : 10 minute card challenge

Today's homework for camp was to make a 10 min card. More difficult than one would think. The first attempt took me 13 mins.
First attempt is first picture.
Second picture is my 10 min card.
To speed up process I used a book from Fresh Paint I got at Target that has sheets of already die cut flowers that you punch out. The only cutting I had to do was the colored stripes of paper.
Sorry pictures are so dark. Cloudy day here in Arizona today.

Today for card camp I incorporated the stitching banners , masking borders and coloring rhinestones techniques. I used the color challenge as well as one of the sketches for this week. Stamps are Butterfly Kisses and Little lady from Papertrey Ink. I used my Copic markers to color clear rhinestones. I don't have a sewing machine so I hand sewed the silver cord onto the card.

Pepper the pouter

Pepper did not like that I was doing laundry and not cuddling with her, so she was pouting in the corner. So silly.

Summer card camp 2: week 1 day 1 & MIM Embellished Envelope

Today is the first day of summer card camp 2. Today we were given colors and sketches to focus on for this week. For this card I used one of my favorite Papertrey Ink (PTI) sets and dies called Love Potion. I also used PTI Faux Ribbon for the dots underneath the sentiment.

I also used this card for MIM challenge this week. I decorated the envelope to match and added a candy heart dimensional accent to embellish it a bit more.

Freshly made sketches #93

I stumbled across a site called Freshly made sketches. They have some fun sketches. Thought I would try this week.

And here is my creation.

This is Pepper and our 15 year old cat Latte. They found their favorite spot...sunny carpet. I love how cute that are laying next to each other.

MIM #123 Making your own paint

This card is for the Make it Monday challenge for Papertrey ink and I also incorporated the Pre Class challenge 1 for the Summer card camp 2.
I mixed Stampin up cranberry crisp re-inker with white acrylic paint to get a color close to my peachy colored paper.
I used a paintbrush and applied a thin layer of the paint to the heart stamp and stamped it on white paper.
In love with this color combo for the summer camp challenge.
